SEVEN SUREFIRE SECRETS TO BREAKING INTO THE FILM BIZ WITH BARRI EVINS
Jun 22, 2013 Hosted By: Laurie LamsonPosted:
Each Cold Cuts features the work of 5 Student Writers from Jacob Krueger Studio, performed by our troupe of professional actors! All readings are "cold" meaning that the actors have received no direction and are receiving the script for the first time, allowing writers and audiences to see exactly what is coming through on the page in early drafts.
At the end of each Cold Cuts Performance, the audience will vote for its favorite scripts. The top 3 finalists will be invited to perform their next 10 pages in next month's Cold Cuts. And 2 more writers will be selected at random to compete, not only for glory, but also for great screenwriting prizes.
Note to Actors
Cold Cuts is always on the lookout for smart actors who enjoy developing new work. If this sounds like you please inquire with our Outreach Coordinator Danielle Eden at email@example.com and you will be contacted shortly.
In honor of Women’s History Month, NFMLA presents another installment of its InFocus series, InFocus: Female Directors. The first film program of the evening presents brilliant meditations on lost love, regret, happiness and the underlying, relentless force of time. These talented female directors give us stories depicting everything from loss of innocence tales to dark comedies about psychotic soccer moms.
Our second film program also centers on female directors. This block of shorts features a powerful documentary that accentuates important social and domestic issues without pulling any punches, an earnest comedy about what it’s like to be eclipsed professionally by a best friend, a drama that wittingly spotlights the age when one must choose between their parents’ expectations and their own personal dreams, and so much more.
Closing out the evening is a third shorts program featuring riveting character-driven dramas from Switzerland, Belgium, and the USA, which are all dynamic as well as visually stunning.
Throughout the night, you will have the opportunity to mingle with the filmmakers, industry supporters and film lovers over cocktails and beats at the filmmakers’ lounge adjacent to the private entry of the South Park Center’s 500 seat theater in Downtown Los Angeles.
Tickets for individual programs are only $5 advance purchase / $7 at the door for single programs and $15 for all-access VIP tickets to all three programs with complimentary beverages.
Located in Downtown LA, South Park Center is the Presenting Venue Sponsor of NewFilmmakers LA (NFMLA). Founded in 2007, NFMLA has screened over 1350+ films from over 67 countries.
