After years writing classified reports for the US Government, first-generation Norwegian-American Birgit Syran Myaard (pronounced BEERgit suhRAN MYurd) discovered a love (make that compulsion) for writing screenplays. Since her first effort, TRUE BLUE WIDOW, garnered a finalist nod from Creative World Awards, Birgit has consistently improved on her contest success, including winning the Family category (8th place overall) in the Emerging Screenwriters contest with her second screenplay, PETRIFIED and recently receiving Movieguide's $10,000 Kairos Prize for Spiritually Uplifting Screenplays for THE HAND OF A WOMAN.
A finally-grown-up third culture kid, Birgit has spent over half her life overseas, has traveled to or lived in over 55 countries (currently in Australia until summer 2017), and speaks Norwegian, German, and French. Every summer she can be found at the cottage on Lake Michigan that she and her husband are renovating. Birgit draws inspiration for her screenplays from the experiences she has gained through her nomadic lifestyle.
