Born in Chicago and raised in Kansas, Steve struggled to get away from it all ever since he could crawl. After "earning" two college degrees and floundering in the related jobs they helped him to hate, he made his way to the West Coast. In Oregon, he connected with Jack Schwarz, who was, at the time, considered to be one of the most gifted and influential teachers of mind-body controls and intuitive skills in the world. [Jack was the subject of many studies conducted by major research centers around the world. In the U.S. those included The Menninger Foundation's Psychophysiology Laboratory, The Stanford Research Institute and Langley-Porter. In other words, Jack was the real deal. Or, to put it another way, Jack was the psychic and Steve was the sidekick.]
Steve worked and studied with Jack for several years and the two collaborated on one of Jack's later books, "It's Not What You Eat, But What Eats You." During that time, Steve was also a yoga instructor, a bartender and co-owner of a martial arts studio that featured full-contact kick boxing. Although Steve is certain he didn't get hit in the head that often, he made several major questionable decisions. So, in 1989, he abandoned Oregon, came to Montana and that has been home ever since.
Steve has been fortunate enough to balance his Catholic upbringing not only with work with Jack Schwarz, but also with several Lakota and Blackfeet families who welcome him to their ceremonies. He also teaches critical thinking and writing at Montana State University. In addition, he gives talks on the Hero's Journey and how important both comedy and drama are to it.
These eclectic experiences give Steve the impetus needed to create the prophetic action and characters he hopes you will enjoy in Julius V~Warrior Pope. He is currently working on a sequel to that, as well as a romance screenplay.
