Short Bios

Jason Kessler is an award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker, and is currently earning a screenwriting MFA at UT Austin under a Michener Fellowship.  His feature script "Up In Flames" won 1st place in the 2014 Las Vegas Film Festival Screenplay Contest, his feature script "High Office" was a top 10 Runner Up in the 2015 Scriptapalooza contest, and his TV pilot "Likes & Follows" won 3rd place in the Big Star Screenwriting Competition.  He's written and produced several short comedy videos, including the "Over Thinker" web series whose first episode gained over 200,000 views in one week. Jason's writing has also been recognized as a Top 10 finalist in the Nantucket Film Festival's 2014 Showtime Tony Cox Feature Screenplay Competition, Top 15% in the 2014 Academy Nicholl Fellowship, Top 10 finalist in the 2013 Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Contest (Half-Hour Spec), a Top 10 finalist in the 2013 Beverly Hills Screenplay Contest (TV - Existing Series), a Top 20 semifinalist in the 2013 Fresh Voices Screenplay Competition (Feature Length Comedy), Top 100 Finalist in the 2013 Emerging Screenwriters Screenplay Competition (Feature Length) and a Second Rounder in the 2014 Austin Film Festival.

 

He previously founded and ran a digital startup in the social media space. And before that he worked as a lawyer practicing advertising and entertainment law. He has served as Co-Chair of the regional Government and Public Affairs Committee for the Anti-Defamation League, an organization dedicated to battling bigotry and securing justice and fair treatment for all people. He graduated from Princeton University with a focus in psychology and computer science, and he graduated from Columbia Law School.
