MARK ROBERTSON trained as an actor at Edinburgh’s Queen Margaret University, after which he appeared in numerous stage plays and London West End musicals.
Since turning to writing full time, Mark has become a prolific writer on various UK television series, including SHAUN THE SHEEP and CHOP-SOCKY CHOOKS (Aardman Animation); DENNIS AND GNASHER (Red Kite/CBBC); and MY SPY FAMILY (Kindle/Cartoon Network).
In 2012, Mark won a place on the UK’s Guiding Lights mentoring scheme. He was mentored on the scheme by Sir Kenneth Branagh, who helped Mark develop a new horror screenplay - the dark, fairytale-themed THE WOODCUTTER. The script was recently a top finalist in the 2013 Screenplay Festival screenwriting competition.
In 2013, Mark secured a place on another prestigious UK scheme, this time the Edinburgh Film Festival’s Talent Lab, where a superhero comedy pitch of his won two out of three of the scheme’s pitching awards, including the Audience Choice Award. He is now developing the idea for a prestigious UK producer.
Mark is currently writing for Oscar-winning Aardman Animation.
