Chris Bell

Screenwriter

Short Bios

I have been writing seriously for about six years now. In that amount of time, I have written thirteen feature-length screenplays, two TV pilot scripts and a number of comedy sketches - all unproduced. I would love the extrinsic reward of selling or optioning a script. Having said that, I am at a point where I look for and value the intrinsic rewards. While I seek success, I recognize a fault or failure as an intrinsic reward in itself. Some of the features I wrote are a bit horrible and will not be shared here. But I have no problem admitting that because it's something of an intrinsic reward to write ninety-something pages, look at it and be secure enough to say, "This is not my best." I've reached a level of productivity where I can reflect on a month's work and accept the fact that I came up short creatively. For me, that's a positive growth experience as a writer and as a person.

I have been fortunate to have a mentor who is a working screenwriter in LA and it has been a very educational and enlightening relationship. I am also very happy to say that this year, I was a runner-up in Scriptapalooza 2016 for my screenplay Brutal. So far, that success has lead to three production companies requesting to read it and one production company asking for a meeting. I am hoping to gain a foothold in the industry and to connect with creative people in the hopes that we might collaborate on future projects.
