Liam McCann

Screenwriter | Script Consultant

Short Bios

Liam was born in Guildford, England, in 1973. While at school, he was county champion in three field events and swam to a national standard. Having graduated with a degree in sports science, he formed Shooter, a rock band that toured Europe.

Liam started writing novels and sports books in 2003, and he has now written or co-written 60 titles, including the non-fiction bestseller The Sledger’s Handbook: How to Deliver the Perfect Cricketing Insult (2006). He has edited more than 40 books and also works as a freelance senior copywriter for The Daily Telegraph.

He has written four screenplays, two of which (children's animation The Battle of Boxhill and crime thriller Down the Devil's Road) were optioned. These have since expired so the rights have returned to Liam.

In 2016, Liam's script for The Battle of Boxhill reached the quarter-final of the Austin Film Festival's screenwriting competition. And in January 2017, Liam was commissioned to adapt the award-winning historical novel Lost Paradise into a feature film.
