Michelle Danner is the founding and artistic director of The Edgemar Center for the Arts a cultural arts center in Santa Monica, CA.
She is a renowned acting coach and works with many A-List Actors privately as well as on set. These include Chris Rock, Gerard Butler, Seth MacFarlane, Melanie Brown, Jamie Lynn Sigler, Penelope Cruz, Verne Troyer, Grant Bowler, Kate Del Castillo, Michael Pena, Isla Fisher, Common, Salma Hayek, Brian McKnight, James Franco, Marcia Cross, Christian Slater, Catherine Bell, Zooey Deschanel, Gabrielle Union, Justin Chatwin, Justine Wadell, Rob Estes, Rick Fox, and Michelle Rodriguez and many others.
Michelle trained with Stella Adler and Uta Hagen. She was the Managing Director of the Larry Moss Studio since its foundation in Los Angeles in 1990. She is the Founding Director of Edgemar Center for the Arts and raised $1.3 million for the construction of the Center’s two theatres and the art gallery. She is currently serving as Artistic Director, and continues to teach classes at the Michelle Danner Studio, housed at Edgemar. She teaches internationally in Europe, Toronto, Vancouver, Dubai, and New York. This year she will be teaching in Sydney, Australia and Capetown.
She was voted favorite acting coach by Backstage readers. She has directed the multi media event Scene Bites and was the acting coach expert on comedy on the WB show The Starlet and was featured coaching Andy Richter on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien in July 2009.
Michelle has directed and acted in over thirty plays and musicals in New York and Los Angeles. Her favorite acting credits include Tennessee William’s The Rose Tattoo, which garnered LA Weekly critic’s pick and five Dramalogue awards including best actress.
