SPECIAL GUEST: DANI SCOTT
Co-owners and co-founders Dani Scott and Christina Sciongay met on set filming a movie together as actresses five years ago. Since then, Dani went to Los Angeles to work in casting and film production. Christina stayed on the East Coast and worked in film in NYC, while studying Psychology at the University of Connecticut. After Dani graduated from Emerson College with a degree in marketing, she reached out to Christina to pursue the creation of a film production company that would be a professional platform for CT filmmakers and creatives while advocating for women behind and in front of the camera. The Connecticut Film Initiative (CTFI) was born!
The movement Film for Therapy was created after a production meeting where an attendee mentioned using film as a healing tool for those overcoming affliction. Now, an up and coming non profit movement within CTFI, Film for Therapy, is a one of a kind movement where CTFI collaborates with local nonprofits and uses members of their organizations to become involved in the filmmaking process. This allows the medium of film to serve as the basis for a new kind of art therapy. Bridging the gap between local filmmakers and our communities, Film For Therapy brings forth powerful films that advocate for nonprofit organizations and their missions while providing lucrative jobs for our local filmmakers.
Now with an Entertainment Division and Film for Therapy, CTFI continues to support women in film and providing opportunities for our local filmmakers and creatives.
