SPECIAL GUEST: Wanjeri Gakuru of Rogue Film Society
Wanjeri Gakuru is a freelance journalist, essayist and filmmaker living and working in Nairobi. A cross-section of her writing has appeared in Transition Magazine, The Africa Report, Jalada Africa, LA Times Magazine, The Elephant and Msafiri, among others. She was selected as the 2018 Literary Ambassador for Nairobi by Panorama: The Journal of Intelligent Travel.
In 2018, Wanjeri was appointed Managing Editor of Pan-African writers’ collective, Jalada Africa. She co-wrote feature films, Supa Modo (2018) and Lusala (2019) as well as the pilot of a TV drama series, Country Queen (2019). Her directorial debut, the mocumentary short film, Get Laid has screened at Shorts, Shorts and Shots Festival in collaboration with NBO Film Festival (Kenya) and URUSARO (Rwanda).
She is a founding member of Rogue Film Society, a collective of multi-talented African actors, directors, producers, scriptwriters and thespians working in film, TV, theatre and advertising.

Nyambura M. Waruingi is a cultural producer and disruptor with a career in film, television, theatre, and visual arts, spanning nearly two decades. She has worked with award-winning production companies, renowned public cultural institutions, and innovative film and visual arts collectives in Canada, Kenya, South Africa, USA, India, and Uganda.
Be it Nairobi, Delhi, Kampala, Montreal, Kigali, San Francisco, or Johannesburg, Nyambura works at the intersection of visual, literary, and cinematic arts, producing encounters that re-imagine our realities across mediums and platforms.
Nyambura’s focus is on excellence in transdisciplinary creative development, new media technologies, and inventive distribution. And, she loves to gather people to enjoy all forms of creative and artistic expressions, curating festivals and exhibitions for transformative engagement. Come play!

Your Script Produced is a Worldwide Screenwriting Competition sponsored by Doval Bacall Films. The sponsor will fully fund, develop, package and produce the Grand Prize-winning film script for $250,000.00 and will purchase the grand prize-winning screenplay for $10,000.00. Nickelodeon Our global Writing Program is one of the best in the biz. Consider the facts: alum have gone on to create their own Nickelodeon shows and write for all sorts of TV series and films. While in the Program, writers meet our series creators, work in writers’ rooms, and receive hands-on experience writing spec scripts and pitching story ideas in both live action and animated television. Basically, they write a lot and do cool things, all while being provided a salary! There are two creative avenues to pursue: the General Track (12-months) and the Preschool Track (6-months). Titles include Igor's Revenge (produced), Zorro the Gay Blade (produced, but not credited), The Muppet's Hockey Movie—The Comeback Kids (not completed due to Jim Henson's death), Ratman From Saturn, Kumquat, The New Musketeers, and A Window in Time. He co-wrote and co-produced the cult comedy, Hercules Recycled. More recently, he wrote A Penny Promise (produced; winner of awards at two film festivals) and sold Hemingway's Twin, an inspiring story about the Hemingway women.
As a teacher and script consultant, he has helped hundreds of writers sell their work, break into the biz, and win contests (including two Nicholl Fellowship winners and a National Play Award winner). Dave rated in the top 5% of the "Cream of the Crop" category of Creative Screenwriting's report "The Best Movie and TV Script Analysts and Consultants as Rated by Screenwriters."
His major work, The Screenwriter's Bible, is now in its seventh edition. He has authored 8 books in all, including Dr. Format Tells All, Double Your Creativity, and Two Screenplays.
