PEN DENSHAM (DGA-WGA-AMPAS-BAFTA-PGA-ATAS) is a maverick writer/producer/director who rode into the movies at age 4 on a live alligator in one of his parents theatrical shorts and started a love of cameras and story. - He quit school at 15 because the system was trying to “help” him, by knocking his creativity out of him. At 22 he founded the Trilogy Entertainment Group with John Watson. Their feature length films and over 250 hours of TV series, collaborating with some of Hollywood’s most creative filmmakers, grossed more than $1 billion dollars. Pen earned 2 Oscar nominations and over 80 international awards. His first film as a writer/director, IF WISHES WERE HORSES, was reviewed by Canada’s TV Guide as “The best dramatic film of any length and from any country that the CBC has ever screened.” And caused Norman Jewison to mentor him to Hollywood. His biggest break was when studios rejected Pen’s revisionist story for ROBIN HOOD PRINCE OF THIEVES, he wrote it anyway. As Producers he and Watson shepherded their script, starring Kevin Costner, to be one of Warner’s largest grossing movies ever. Pen has written and directed, his personal version of MOLL FLANDERS, starring Morgan Freeman & Robin Wright. And HOUDINI for TNT, from Pen’s fascination for one of America’s most extraordinary showmen. Johnathon Schaech and Mark Ruffalo. Both were spec scripts. - Pen was a Producer on all Trilogy’s films including: BLOWN AWAY with Jeff Bridges, THE DANGEROUS LIVES OF ALTAR BOYS with Jodie Foster, BACKDRAFT with Ron Howard directing, LARGER THAN LIFE with Bill Murray, BUFFALO SOLDIERS with Danny Glover, TANK GIRL, JUST BURIED, PHANTOM, etc. He is a Producer on the feature, LAST FULL MEASURE (2019) with Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan and Christopher Plummer. And Executive Producer on HARRIET, (2019) - the feature biography on Harriet Tubman, starring Cynthia Erivo. Pen personally revived his favorite anthology TV shows 'THE OUTER LIMITS' and 'THE TWILIGHT ZONE' to award winning TV runs. Pen authored a best selling book on creative screenwriting: RIDING THE ALLIGATOR. Recently translated to Chinese. A free chapter on firing up the imagination is here:

Max’s focus with the ISA is on education and to build a creative community, bringing ISA writers closer to managers, agents, and producers. Recently he has helped build the ISA Development Slate, submitting writers’ projects on their behalf and helping them launch their careers – 17 writers have received options and representation since 2015 because of Max’s assistance and support. His personal coaching and development service, The Story Farm, develops writers and their material much like a studio executive or literary manager would, walking a writer through the drafting and rewriting process. He also created online classes for the ISA titled, The Craft Course in Screenwriting and the 30-Day Screenwriting Challenge. Additionally, he helped create and launch the ISA’s popular Curious About Screenwriting interview-focused podcast network, and most recently, he and the co-head of the ISA Development Slate, Felicity Wren, launched a live Facebook broadcast show called Wine Wednesdays; an informal “script chat” bi-weekly series. Max is a screenwriter and author as well and recently released his debut book on screenwriting titled, (Not Just) Another Book on The Craft of Screenwriting. Most recently, Max has joined forces with his ISA cohorts, Felicity Wren and Craig James, to launch a production and development shingle called Creative Screenwriter with the plan to produce low to mid-range budgeted films written by the ISA’s top members.
