About National YoungArts Week

From Jan. 7-14, YoungArts welcomes more than 170 young artists from across the country for its signature program, National YoungArts Week. Selected by a panel of some of the nation’s leading artists, these dancers, singers, songwriters, jazz and classical musicians, filmmakers, designers, writers, visual artists and actors — all 15-18 years old — will participate in an intensive weeklong program that fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and offers unparalleled guidance to prepare for a career in the arts.

Throughout the week, these promising artists work with master teachers such as Tony Award winning choreographer Bill T. Jones; world renowned tenor and conductor Plácido Domingo; architect Frank Gehry; jazz saxophonist Jimmy Heath; Academy Award winning writer Tarell Alvin McCraney; and contemporary artists Mickalene Thomas and Carrie Mae Weems.

Their work will culminate in nightly public performances and film screenings at New World Center and writers’ readings and a visual arts, photography and design exhibition at YoungArts’ campus. YoungArts Week is supported by the YoungArts National Premier Sponsor Carnival Foundation; the YoungArts Week Performance Sponsor SunTrust; the Legacy Master Series Sponsor, Aon; the Design Arts Discipline Sponsor, Arquitectonica; the Visual Arts Discipline Sponsor, Related Group; Miami-Dade County; and the State of Florida.

Doors open at 5:30pm. Limited seats available.
