The Successful Writer's Mindset

NoFilmSchool.com offered 6 habits of highly successful (screen)writers:

-Be a morning person.
-Don't give up the day job.
-Take lots of walks.
-Stick to a schedule.
-Practice strategic substance abuse.
-Learn to work anywhere.

Some writers use their day job as an excuse, but many masters produced their work while holding down a 9 to 5, and the imposition of structure can be healthy for a writer because it makes writing an urgent activity.

I would just disagree with being a morning person. Writing at night is much more inspiring. At night you don't get interrupted. Obviously, being a morning person has an advantage. Most business people are morning people. However, most creative people I have met in my life are night people. In fact, I used to be a night person. I loved to stay working on my films, paintings, or writing until dawn. Then, necessity and business forced me into being active in the morning.

The end result was that I get up early in the morning, work until late at night, and collapse on the weekends.

This world is controlled by morning people and conceived by night people.

I see where you're coming from. I get my better ideas at night as I'm cooling down for the day.

Sometimes, a lot of my ideas come from dreams. Hopefully, I can remember most of them!
