FAQs

Question 1.) What is a pitch?

Your pitch can be a synopsis, treatment, short story, outline, beat-sheet or concept summary. Your pitch can be for a feature film or TV show, reality show, game show, 1/2 hour sitcom or hour long episodic, procedural or serial. It doesn't matter how the story's told, just make it engaging, exciting and fun to read. The pitch must be no longer than 3 pages - but you may include additional supporting material such as underlying properties, supporting articles, illustrations, poster art, or other references.. Whatever you have to sell the idea.

Question 2.) Can I submit a pitch based on a screenplay or teleplay I already wrote?

As long as you are open to notes and possible revisions then yes.

Question 3.) Do you take any ownership in the finished script and is my payment contingent on writing the script?

No. You retain all the rights and you are under no obligation to write the script if you decide not to. You can walk away with your idea and the prize money at anytime.

Question 4.) How can I protect my original idea?

You can copyright treatments, synopsis and outlines with the WGAw Registry the same way you would a script. An often overlooked step in proving the date and genesis of your original idea. Over and above, we'll take great care not to share your idea with anyone outside of our small development team.

Fresh Voices

DISCOVER

Our approach to discovering new talent underscores our strong belief that new voices deserve to be heard, and great stories told. Our services are specifically designed to discover material most people might overlook. While traditional criteria such as tone, structure and character are equally important, in our experience the one quality that cannot be taught or rewritten is the author’s original voice.

ENCOURAGE

We encourage writers by offering guidance to those areas of the screenwriting process that can be taught. Established writers have a team of agents, managers and publicists to prepare, promote and help navigate every aspect of the business. Fresh Voices was created to offer the same services to emerging writers so you can approach your career with confidence.

PROMOTE

We take a proactive approach to introducing writers and material to the industry. We have relationships with the tastemakers and decision makers and we know what sells and who's buying. We strive to effectively match material with appropriate buyers, facilitate productive relationships and launch the careers of emerging screenwriters.
