Join us for ISA’s Third Thursdays – Chicago!
The ISA’s Third Thursday – Chicago October event is quickly approaching. This month’s program will introduce a new workshop event The First 10 along with a chance to win door prizes. Join us for a fun evening of socializing and screenwriting craft.
The First 10 program will include a live read of the first ten pages of a member’s script followed with analysis from a screenwriting mentor and moderated discussion with the group. A script’s first ten pages set the groundwork for the story you want to tell. A well-written opening hooks that producer or director that you want to produce your script.
The mentor and moderator for this first program is Charles Borg, an award-winning writer/producer with an MFA in Screenwriting from Chapman University. He runs "Smash To: Script Consulting", where he works with filmmakers affiliated with the likes of Nasdaq Studios, FUSE, Circle of Confusion, and Anonymous Content. Charles writes and ghostwrites feature scripts and pilots, as well as develops film treatments and reality show pitch-packages. His skillset also extends to writing VO for TV- series’ promos, such as the Emmy Award-nominated, Never Settle Show, and the boxing docu-series, Knockout for which he co-produced/story-produced 2 seasons. In the feature film realm, Charles has co-produced two films: Three Worlds (2018) and MAN (2017), winner of CICFF’s “Golden Fox Award”, which he also co-wrote and co-edited. Charles has been a professional script analyst for Stage 32 and The Writer’s Store and now sits on the board as Head of Development for Creative Cypher. Charles also teaches screenwriting classes at Chicago Filmmakers, as well as at Flashpoint Chicago - a Campus of Columbia College Hollywood.
