The Vancouver International Women in Film Festival Screenplay Competition accepts English-language feature screenplays written by women. The festival is a forum for collaboration and networking with other screenwriters and filmmakers who contribute to the visibility of women through the ongoing practice of their craft. Women In Film and Television Vancouver (WIFTV) is a member-driven, not-for-profit society, which addresses systemic barriers to women’s equal participation in the production and dissemination of screen-based media. We approach our goals by working with a range of partners to increase funding, employment, and promotional opportunities for those identifying as women. We offer professional skill-based training and create opportunities to further women-led projects. We present and publicly celebrate the achievement of women in screen-based media, primarily, but not exclusively, through The Vancouver International Women in Film Festival.

Nickelodeon Our global Writing Program is one of the best in the biz. Consider the facts: alum have gone on to create their own Nickelodeon shows and write for all sorts of TV series and films. While in the Program, writers meet our series creators, work in writers’ rooms, and receive hands-on experience writing spec scripts and pitching story ideas in both live-action and animated television. Basically, they write a lot and do cool things, all while being provided a salary!  There are two creative avenues to pursue: the General Track (12-months) and the Preschool Track (6-months). The Preschool Track was created to develop writers specifically interested in writing and/or creating shows for the preschool demographic. You bring the smart, funny, engaging stories and characters, and we’ll help you bring the preschool.

Also, just a quick FYI:

There will be an early morning flyover (9am) on May 17th of The MEMPHIS BELLE, the WWII B-17 made famous in the movie of the same name.

It will be escorted by two other B-17 Bombers and some P-51 Mustangs.

This event, held at the National Museum of the United States Air Force will feature a dozen WWII era aircraft and 160 reenactors and 30 military vehicles available throughout the day.

This would be a great opportunity for aspiring filmmakers or anyone that wants to record some cool historical aircraft footage for use in whatever project you might be working on.

These kinds of opportunities don’t come around often. Check it out if you can, then of course join us at W. O. Wrights for the always awesome Third Thursdays Event. We've got some cool door prizes.
