Event Sponsors:

The Nickelodeon Writing Program offers emerging television writers from around the world a paid opportunity to develop their craft and launch their careers. While in the Program, writers hone their skills, build a professional network and gain real-world experience in writers’ rooms for our critically acclaimed live-action and animated shows. The General Track is a 12-month commitment.

The Idea: The Seven Elements of a Viable Story for Screen, Stage or Fiction by Erik Bork Why don’t most scripts have the kind of success their writers dream of: winning contests, attracting managers and agents, getting sold and produced?  Because of issues with the basic idea for their story.  Erik's book focuses on answering the age-old question: “What makes a worthwhile idea?” For more info, Click Here

Rantings and Ravings of a Screenplay Reader  After entering your screenplay in contest after contest, have you often wondered why you constantly come up empty handed? Why your entry never seems to make it past the quarter- or semi- or whatever is the lowest of the finals? These essays are based on my now almost twenty year experience as a reader and judge for numerous competitions, as well as a provider of one-on-one personal consultation. During that time, I have come to notice that writers often seem to make the same sorts of mistakes over and over and over…and over again. The essays are not rules to live by. The essays are just a way to give you, the author, more of an idea as to what you may need to do to make it up to that next level. For more info, Click Here

Ms. Butler,

I truly wish that I could attend this evening, but with the weather and my physical situation - I will not be able to attend.   So sorry.   I had hoped to learn from you and the other individuals.

Also, just a quick FYI:

There will be an early morning flyover (9am) on May 17th of The MEMPHIS BELLE, the WWII B-17 made famous in the movie of the same name.

It will be escorted by two other B-17 Bombers and some P-51 Mustangs.

This event, held at the National Museum of the United States Air Force will feature a dozen WWII era aircraft and 160 reenactors and 30 military vehicles available throughout the day.

This would be a great opportunity for aspiring filmmakers or anyone that wants to record some cool historical aircraft footage for use in whatever project you might be working on.

These kinds of opportunities don’t come around often. Check it out if you can, then of course join us at W. O. Wrights for the always awesome Third Thursdays Event. We've got some cool door prizes.
