I’m a screenwriter, director and actor out of Northwest Indiana, otherwise known as “Da Region”. I do most of my work in Chicago, including film, stage, and my guilty pleasure, improv. I’ve also written/directed several community shorts in Lake County, Indiana in an effort to bring film opportunities to our underserved areas.
A number of my screenplays have been recognized competitively both nationally and internationally. In the BEA Festival of the Media Arts, two of my scripts won first and second place in the short film and TV pilot categories respectively, my feature “Gothic Monkey” was in the top 20% of the PAGE International Screenwriting Awards, and recently, both of my TV pilots, “Superfluous” and "War Bank" made the Top 100 Finalists in the 2017 Emerging Screenwriters "Shoot Your Sizzle" competition, with "Superfluous" taking 8th place overall.
Personal ambitions aside, I’ve always enjoyed bringing the craft of filmmaking to my fellow Region Rats, especially the raw, young and upcoming talent who are just entering the industry. I’ve also done video work for support groups and charities, the most current is a promotional film for the Crossroads Firewood Charity which supports many local food pantries, Habitat for Humanity, and the impoverished community of Hopkins Park, Illinois.
As an avid nature lover, I actively volunteer at the John G. Shedd Aquarium, where I was the youngest ever to be accepted into the establishment’s volunteer program at twelve years old. Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to write and deliver educational presentations to thousands of visitors, and facilitate guest engagement activities such as games and animal encounters. My interest in life sciences has led me to the Brookfield Zoo as well where I had the privilege to participate in one of their commercials, and later doubled as an actor and supervisor, directing staff and volunteers, during their Creatures of the Night event.
When I’m not at my desk writing, you can usually find me out for a run in the elements, playing volleyball or bicycling through the gorgeous, Indiana Dunes nature trails.
