I find my greatest passion in writing stories that reveal moments of whimsy and untapped courage even in the midst of formidable circumstances. I strive to see characters join together to pool their individual skills and talents for a common goal, and witness children becoming the heroes of their own stories. My consistent goal is to produce quality films all ages can enjoy.
I have authored over twenty picture books from major publishers including HarperCollins, Simon and Schuster, Little Brown, Farrar Straus & Giroux, Dial Penguin, and Candlewick Press. My books have received many awards and recognitions from School Library Journal, American Booksellers Pick of the List, Publisher's Weekly, the New York Times Book Review, The Horne Book, Kirkus, Parenting Magazine's Award of Excellence, and Junior Library Guild special selection. A first picture book, WHEEL AWAY! was #1 on the San Francisco Chronicle Children's Bestseller List, and I received the prestigious Bay Area Book Reviewer's Association Award Nomination for best children's book. A later title, SING, SOPHIE, was #2 on the Bestseller's List. SING, SOPHIE was also animated for television by Open Mind Productions. Another script, “HENRY’S AMAZING MACHINE,” based on one of my picture books of the same title, won first place in the 2015 Fade In Screenwriting Contest in the family division and was an award winner in the Hollywood Screenplay Contest in 2018. My film script, “TRUFFLED,” was given the highest recommendation - 5 stars - by the Dove Foundation, whose goal is to acknowledge quality family movies and television. “FAIRY CHRISTMAS” was a Script Pimp “Recommend.” Both “TRUFFLED” and “HENRY’S AMAZING MACHINE” were finalists in the Imaginarium Contest, and “TRUFFLED” is presently a semi-finalist in the 2019 Creative Screenwriting competition.
