I wrote my first story when I was nine about a boy trying to follow trends so that he will be accepted by his friends. I was that kid. It took me many years to realize that, the same things that made us different as kids are the same things that make us special as adults. I was an African-American kid lived in the ghetto but attending to catholic school in the suburban.
Convinced I would grow up to be a stuntman after watching The Fall Guy meant I spent most of my summers in the house with broken bones; this is when I fell in love with Fantasy / Adventures like James Bond, Raiders…, and Star Wars like and Sci-fi / Thrillers such as Alien, Blade Runner, and They Live. I never saw myself as a filmmaker until I watched Do the Right Thing.
I was born and raised on Chicago’s west side and after attending the Film Director’s Program at Columbia College Chicago, I moved out to Los Angeles and attended the Screenwriter’s Program at UCLA Extension.
As a teen I directly identify with movies by filmmakers Spike Lee and John Singleton because I saw myself in their characters but my goal has never been to make black films, my goal is to make films about all people, told from the POV of someone who grew up in both worlds.
Currently I’m creating a new Sci-fi /horror anthology series that will focus on ordinary people placed in extraordinary and weird situations in the vein of The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror. Each new story is a character driven emotional thrill ride with scares and unexpected twists around every corner.
