The story should be firmly in the drama arena – this director does not want horror or things with overt genre elements, unless those elements enhance the social awareness or political components, like in Parasite. The director is also not looking for victim/revenge type stories. They want a story where the lead characters have agency, the story is put into motion from their internal conflicts and unfolds organically and naturally from there.
True stories are also good for this director. They are particularly interested in stories centered around social justice and political awareness. True stories set in small communities or underserved areas would be an ideal fit.
