So this is a perfect opportunity to tell the kinds of stories that have historically been relegated to fringe culture - midnight movies, comics, and books of fantastic fiction. Provocative, eclectic stories that seem like they may be pushing the boundaries of what we traditionally think of for animation.
We’re seeking diversity across styles and formats -- from traditional 2D to photo-real 3D CGI -- and across voices and creators. We strongly encourage BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and female writers to submit.
“Adult animation” does not mean it should exclude children or teens, and we are of course looking for projects that cater to all. Comps include: Love, Death and Robots, Undone, The Boondocks, Primal and Samurai Jack. (We also want to reiterate we’re very much looking at stuff in the Futurama/Bojack Horseman/Bob’s Burgers/Rick and Morty vein too).
When submitting, please include your SCRIPT, a SYNOPSIS and a thoroughly developed LOGLINE. We want to know your concept and hook within those elements.
Union and non-union writers accepted. Scripts from anywhere in the world will be considered but must be in English language.
NOTE: An “ISA-verified industry pro” means it is a respected industry professional/company with means to fund projects that suit their mandate. They wish to remain private and have entrusted the ISA to vet and find content to send to them.
