Rules

  • Eligibility:  The Contest is open only to legal residents of the United States who are at least eighteen (18) years old.
  • How to Enter:
    • Create Your Entry:  Write and submit your one minute monologue (open genre) that is at or approximately one minute long (PDF format only).  Please see the “Content Requirements” Section below for additional requirements.
    • Content Requirements: Please make sure your Entry does not (i) violate anyone else’s rights, including their copyrights, trademark rights, or rights of privacy or publicity; (ii) contain any defamatory statements or threats; or (iii) prominently feature any trademarks or logos, unless you can provide to MyTeeVee written permission from the owners of the trademarks or logos to do so. Don’t do anything that’s likely to get you or anyone else hurt while filming the Entry, and make sure your Entry doesn’t encourage other people to do anything dangerous, either. We’ll accept anything ranging from a “G-rated” video to an “R-rated” video, but don’t go beyond that. We reserve the right to edit or refuse to post any Entry for any reason.
    • Submit Your Entry: Visit the Contest Website and follow the instructions to submit your Entry. Any person who owns any rights to your Entry is considered a Collaborator. You will be required to provide the name of each Collaborator in the description of your Entry when you upload or embed it on the Contest Website. Only Entries submitted between 12:00AM PT on April 24, 2013 and 11:59PM PT on April 30, 2013 will be eligible. There is a limit of one (1) entry per person.
    • Representations and Warranties:  By entering, you represent and warrant that: (i) you accept these Official Rules and our decisions regarding the Contest; (ii) your Entry is an original work; (iii) you and/or your Collaborator(s) own all rights to the Entry and have obtained all necessary and customary releases, including, but not limited to, those granting you permission to use an actor’s image and to transfer that permission to a third party; and (iv) you have written permission from any Collaborator to grant the rights described in the “MyTeeVee’s Rights to Entries” section below, and can provide those permissions to MyTeeVee upon request.
  • Winner Selection Process:
    • Semi-Finalists:  Between 12:00AM PT on May 1, 2013 and 11:59PM PT on May 5, 2013, MyTeeVee Members will be able to vote for their favorite Entries based on the following Judging Criteria: 1) Overall quality of the Entry (were you engaged/entertained), and 2) Authenticity (whether that means a truly “original” interpretation, or a truly “genuine/honest” interpretation, etc.). There is a limit of one (1) vote per Entry, however MyTeeVee Members may vote for multiple Entries.  Please see additional information about the voting process below. The top 20% of Entries with the most votes will be deemed Semi-Finalists. We reserve the right to select fewer than 20% of the Entries as Semi-Finalists, if, in our sole discretion, we do not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Entries.
    • Finalists: MyTeeVee will evaluate all Semi-Finalists based on the Judging Criteria and select five (5) Finalists. We reserve the right to select fewer than five (5) Finalists, if, in our sole discretion, we do not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Entries. However, at least 1 of the Semi-Finalists will be selected as Finalists.
    • Winners:  Between 12:00AM PT on May 6, 2013 and 11:59PM PT on May 9,  2013, MyTeeVee Members will be able to vote for their favorite Finalists based on the Judging Criteria.  There is a limit of one (1) vote per Entry, however MyTeeVee Members may vote for multiple Entries.  Please see additional information about the voting process below. The top Finalists with the most votes will be deemed the potential winner and will be announced on the Website approximately one (1) business day after the close of voting. We reserve the right to select more than one (1) winner, if, in our sole discretion, we do not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Entries.
    • Voting Process:  You may not attempt to obtain votes by any fraudulent or inappropriate means, including, without limitation, by: (i) circumventing (or encouraging others to circumvent) the vote limits; (ii) using any automated system to vote; or (iii) offering any inducements to others in exchange for votes. We, in our sole discretion, reserve the right to reject any votes obtained through fraudulent or inappropriate means.
  • Potential Winner Requirements:  We will attempt to contact potential winners within one (1) business day of selection. In order to win a prize, a potential winner and any Collaborators may be required to complete and return an affidavit of eligibility and a liability and publicity release. If a potential winner or Collaborator is a minor, his/her parent or legal guardian will be required to sign the documents. If a potential winner fails to sign and return the documents within the required time period, he/she will forfeit the prize and an alternate potential winner may be selected in his/her place according to the Judging Criteria.
  • Prizes:  One (1) First Prize winner will receive a check for $100, and their monologue will be featured in our next Acting Initiative to be announced shortly after the contest closes. Alternatively, winners may choose to receive prizes via PayPal.  Winners must provide a valid email address in order to receive prizes through PayPal.  Prizes will be mailed (or sent electronically via PayPal) within two (2) business days of verification. Prizes will be awarded only to the winners, and not to any Collaborators or actors. Winners are responsible for paying any income taxes on a prize.
  • General Conditions:  In the event the operation, security, or administration of the Contest is impaired in any way, we may, in our sole discretion, either: (a) suspend the Contest to address the impairment and then resume the Contest; or (b) award the prizes according to the Judging Criteria (with or without reference to the public votes) from among the Entries received up to the time of the impairment. We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to disqualify and seek damages from any individual who tampers with the operation of the Contest, violates these Official Rules, or acts in a disruptive manner. Our failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. Proof of sending any communication to MyTeeVee by mail shall not be deemed proof that we received it. In the event of a dispute as to the owner of an Entry, the authorized account holder of the MyTeeVee account used to enter will be deemed to be the owner. There is no purchase necessary to enter. The Contest is subject to federal, state, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited.
  • Release and Limitation of Liability:  By entering, you agree to release and hold MyTeeVee, its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents (the “Released Parties”) harmless from and against any and all liability, claims, actions, loss, harm, damage, injury, cost or expense (collectively, “Claims”) arising out of your participation in the Contest or receipt or use of any prize, including, but not limited to: (a) unauthorized human intervention in the Contest (including the voting process); (b) technical errors; (c) printing errors; (d) lost, late, postage-due, misdirected, or undeliverable mail; (e) errors in the administration of the Contest or the processing of Entries; or (f) injury or damage to persons or property. You further agree to indemnify, release, and hold the Released Parties harmless from any Claims that their use of your Entry (as contemplated herein) violates or infringes upon the rights of any third party.
  • Privacy and Publicity:  Any information you submit as part of the Contest will be used for purposes of this Contest and treated in accordance with MyTeeVee’s Privacy Policy.
  • Disputes:  Except where prohibited, you agree that any disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in California. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, your rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of MyTeeVee in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of California, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of California or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than California.
  • Sponsor:  The Contest is sponsored by MyTeeVee, LLC, 7095 Hollywood Boulevard, Suite 691 Hollywood CA 90028 (“MyTeeVee”).
