CONTEST DESCRIPTION

Got a hot Movie Idea or concept for a TV Series? The Napa Valley Film Festival Pitch Panel Contest is on again! The NVFF Pitch Panel Contest connects new writers and filmmakers with the industry's best creative executives and producers in a 2-Day competition set to discover the next blockbuster film or hit TV series. Panelists/Judges include executives from The Weinstein Co, Fox Searchlight, Untitled Entertainment.

PRIZES

  • Exclusive invitation to Thursday Morning's "boot camp" and pitch competition semi-finals. 
  • Complimentary full five-day Festival Pass for the Festival. (Any additional passes must be purchased. Semi-Finalists will also be responsible for their own lodging and travel.)

Feedback Type Description

Rules

Any genre for Movie or Television is welcome. 

Submit your Title, Genre, Logline (50 words max), and brief Synopsis of your pitch (150 words max) in a Word Document or PDF.

You may submit more than once, but please be sure that each is highly original. 

Be prepared to communicate your pitch in under 2 minutes. You will be allowed to read off your page.

How to format your pitch (Paste in "Overview" section, or attach as Word Document/PDF):

Category & Genre: (Film/Drama, Comedy, etc. | Television/Docu-Series, Reality, Drama Series, etc.) 
Title 
Logline: (1 or 2 sentence, 50 word max description) 
Pitch Synopsis: (150 word paragraph outline)

BY SUBMITTING YOUR STORY OR CONCEPT TO THE PITCH PANEL CONTEST, YOU UNDERSTAND AND AGREE TO THE TERMS NOTED WITHIN THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT:

"I will be submitting to you certain original written details ("Pitch" or "Project") with the intent of exposure and submission to entertainment industry executives ("The Panel") involved in the Napa Valley Film Festival (NVFF) Pitch Panel event ("Contest" or "Event"). I understand and agree that only original and unique expressions of story and concepts may be protected under intellectual property law. I acknowledge that I have requested permission to disclose and submit to NVFF, and its Panel certain details that may or may not be protected under such laws, and it is my own responsibility to seek protection prior to exposure of my pitch by registering those materials with the Writers Guild of America ( www.wga.org ) or Creators Vault ( www.creatorsvault.com ).

I understand that within the creative community of the entertainment industry it is common for similar or identical stories or concepts to be created by multiple entities unknowingly, without collaboration between them. I understand and hold harmless of liability NVFF and its Panel for any prior or subsequent collaborations or productions involving similar or identical stories or concepts unrelated to my disclosure of my pitch and participation in the event.

I acknowledge that any discussions I may have with any third party as a result my participation in the NVFF Pitch Panel event does not constitute any agreement, expressed or implied, as to any actual acquisition of my proposed project, which I am hereby disclosing to you.

I understand and agree that the Napa Valley Film Festival retains the right to publicize and promote any success I gain through the option, sale, development, acquisition, or any deal either formal or informal as a result of my participation in the Event."
