Just like the state of Rhode Island where she was born and raised, LGBT+ writer and storyteller Caroline H. Miller is the paradigm of a small state with a big personality. A Prep School hockey player who rejected the social register (and the dress code), Caroline hung up her skates, ran away to SoCal for college and never looked back. Fueled by wanderlust and a desire to live a life that was truly her own, Caroline went on to live and work in two very different mountain ranges—the Andes and the Rockies—before returning east to write about her experiences and complete her MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU Tisch.
Equally confident barreling down double-black-diamond trails on the ski slopes or experimenting with elaborate recipes in the cramped kitchen of her DTLA studio apartment, Caroline delights in subverting expectations. This sensibility extends to her writing, where she subverts expectations of female likability by portraying complex and intense women who are as ambitious as she is. Her scripts have placed in multiple competitions including Screencraft and Stage 32 and gone on to win both the Venable Herndon Award for Excellence in Screenwriting (NYU Tisch) and the Best Local Writer Award at the Boobs and Blood International Film Festival.
Both an avid wine enthusiast and a voracious reader, when she isn’t off on her next adventure she loves nothing more than to pour herself a glass of an obscure varietal, settle into her vintage Chesterfield chair with her adopted Peruvian cat, and crack open a new novel.
