Tony McBride is a features and television writer that specializes in high-concept projects designed to attract the attention of mass audiences. Tony was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA to a working class family. It was in Philadelphia that Tony discovered the entertainment industry by working as a background actor on such productions as "National Treasure", "Annapolis" and Hack". Despite a sheer lack of natural talent (ambition was the key here), Tony even landed an agent.
Tony came to Los Angeles after serving in the United States Army as an Intelligence Officer. It was in the military that he learned key traits such as courage, leadership, teamwork and commitment: traits that Tony cherishes to this day and which drive him to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. While in the military, Tony lived in South Korea for a year and traveled the United States although he has never seen combat. Experience through these travels is what inspires many of the characters in Tony's stories giving them an "underdog" premise.
Tony initially studied acting at such places as New York Film Academy, UCLA Extension, The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and TVI. Acting classes provided a strong foundation and entry way into the entertainment community by opening a gateway for creativity and expression. A knowledge of character, story and requirements for the actor fuels Tony's writing by providing a knowledge of character and story development.
Currently, Tony has a portfolio of projects including features and television scripts designed for the mass audience. His scripts have placed in the Screencraft Writing Fellowship Contest, The Los Angeles International Film Festival, The Walt Disney/ABC Diversity Writing Program and the UCLA Extension Feature Writing Contest. Tony aspires to get represntation through contest wins, query letters or outright getting on his hands and knees to beg.
