Cavan Campbell is a Sri Lankan-Canadian filmmaker. Raised on Prince Edward Island, his Sri Lankan mother is a writer, and his Island father a painter.
Cavan's drama HANGNAIL opened the Slamdance Film Festival, and was lauded by Academy Award-winner Paul Haggis as “very powerful, wonderful filmmaking”. His psychological horror film RECEIVER premiered at the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival, where it received the Air Canada Best Short Film Award, and subsequently won awards for its editing and sound design.
THROUGH THE THROAT is his most recent film, and is currently touring film festivals.
Cavan has worked for 20 years in film & TV production, a contributor to international feature films (FRANKENSTEIN, IT, xXx: RETURN OF XANDER CAGE), series television (STAR TREK: DISCOVERY, HEROES REBORN), and numerous commercials and music videos. Making his home in Toronto, he is a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees.
