Christopher J. Collom
Born: November 18, 1964
Quick Bio Hi-lites: My career until 2014 has been as a professional geologist and paleontologist. I've taught at colleges and universities since 1998. My father was a renowned writer / teacher / poet (Jack Collom), so I was encouraged to be creative and write from the time I could hold a pencil. Grew up in Boulder, Colorado during the social upheaval of the 1960's, and have been in Alberta, Canada for the last 25 years. Recently, there's been a successful Kickstarter campaign – based on the pilot episode teleplay for my TV historical drama series HEROD THE GREAT ( https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/collom/herod-the-great-comic?ref=user_menu ). The graphic novel of Herod Issue #1 may be obtained in digital format at Comixilogy ( https://www.comixology.com/Herod-the-Great-1/digital-comic ).
So, here in my fifties (the most creative decade!) I'm putting those valuable creative skills to use and hone my screenwriting and script consulting.
I write in several genres. My expertise is with HISTORICAL FICTION / NON-FICTION -- for films and TV series based on real human history. Movies that fit into this broad genre that the reader may be familiar with include: The Imitation Game (2014), Kingdom of Heaven (2005), Capote (2005), Alexander (2004), & Cleopatra (1963). Television shows that closely adhere to historical records include: The Crown (Netflix), Rome (HBO), and Versailles (Ovation).
My feature historical screenplay is set in WWII in North Africa, titled "Lady Be Good" (based on the true story of a lost B-24 Liberator crew in the Libyan desert in 1943).
In addition to writing, I'm also developing as a PRODUCER, with a longer-term goal of directing (both my own material and scripts written by other talented young writers!).
