Eoin O'Connor

Biography

Eoin is an award-winning Irish screenwriter and director. He studied at University College Dublin and completed an advanced diploma in film production at the Dublin Institute of Technology.

His breakthrough script, '30 EGGS' received development funding from the Irish Film Board and was featured in the 2010 BRIT LIST of the UK's best unproduced screenplays.

For television, Eoin won a special 'Jury Prize' at the 2014 BBC Northern Ireland Tony Doyle Awards. He has developed television drama ideas as part of the BBC TV Drama Writer's Programme 2016-17 and has been listed on the BBC's New Talent Hotlist 2017.

For radio, Eoin adapted '30 EGGS' as a five-part radio drama for BBC Radio4 in 2015. The drama was awarded the Imison Award of Best Audio Drama Script for a writer new to the medium.

Eoin's short film 'Aid', which he wrote, produced and directed, was screened at a number of film festivals and was awarded Best Short Film Under Ten Minutes at the Victoria Independent Film Festival 2010. 'Aid' was shot on location in Rwanda.

Having spent several years living in Africa (specifically Rwanda and the DRC) much of Eoin's work, including 30 EGGS, centres around themes of an African context.
