Harold L. Brown,

AKA Harold Lea Brown, Storyteller

Harold Lea Brown is a learned, recognized and seasoned business executive and chief strategist/futurist, with more than 30 years management experience, and national and international professional designations in management, information management and accounting, including the highest status that can be achieved in the management profession, a Chartered Fellow with the United Kingdom Chartered Management Institute.  His life long passion has always been storytelling, something he has become laser focused on in the last decade or so.  Besides being on movie and television sets as talent, he’s studied writing, acting and producing, all to inform his craft as a writer.  He’s committed to carrying on his family’s Scandinavian tradition of storytelling.

Harold’s a multi-international award winning writer.  His work spans the drama, thriller, crime/mystery, action/adventure, western and comedy genres and includes screenplays, teleplays, miniseries, web series and novels.  His sub genre specialties include government, politics and technology.  His stories explore everything from racial challenges in an increasingly globalized world community, to the global threats of technology, to generational and intergenerational challenges families face, the impact of special interest groups, the evolving challenges of translocation something much more than immigration, to the unintended consequences of decisions and actions, and, so much more.  His writing has been recognized by more than fifty film festivals and writing competitions in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Spain, the U.K., Sweden, Ireland, the Netherlands, Italy, Romania, India, Indonesia and Australia, with IMDBPro awards and honours for his writing totaling sixty-eight wins and a further seventy-three nominations.  His techno thriller novel series has garnered five awards.

He is one of the “Top 100 Indie Writers in the World,” profiled in a multimedia book published by Del Weston and Theresa Weston on iTunes.  In 2020 his work was nominated for the Jean-Luc Godard Award by the Cult Critic Movie Awards Film Magazine.  He is the recipient of the MEGAFest Action on Film International Film Festival Mico Award (2018) for innovation, courage and excellence in storytelling and the Script Summit Aristotle Award For Excellence in Screenwriting.  The Action on Film MEGAFest International Film Festival and the Las Vegas International Film and Screenwriters Festival named Harold 2019 Writer of the Year.  He has also been nominated for the Austin Revolution Film Festival “Randall Greenland Screenwriter of the Year Award (2017)” and was a “2015 Writer of the Year Award,” nominee—Action on Film International Film Festival.  Four of his screenplays have garnered positive reviews by the Academy Nicholl Fellowships, one top 10% finish, two top 20% finishes and one with two positive scores—just placing outside the top 20% finalists.  He has been a screenwriting “Second Rounder” four times at the Austin Film Festival.

He is the sponsor of the Harold L. Brown Award of Excellence 1st Time Screenwriter presented annually at The Northern Virginia International Film & Music Festival, Washington D.C. Metro Area, to a first time writer who displays excellence and promise in their storytelling craft.  He is also a founding co-sponsor of the Young Storyteller Award presented annually at the Action on Film MEGAFest  International Film Festival to young storytellers under sixteen, with twenty-five youth making up the 2018 Class of Young Storytellers.  He has been a guest lecturer speaking on topics such as converting screenplays into novels, something he has done with the Deadly Invisible Enemies Series, and on advanced screenwriting, with such artists as Antonio Fargas, Del Weston and Matt DeGennaro.

In the pilot episode, newly elected city Councilor, Judy Braun, and her husband, Jack, Chief of Staff to the Alberta Premier, experience the politics and family challenges of living with chickens on a city golf course. PRODUCER:

Harold has received the award for ‘Most Promising Producer’ in Alberta, where such feature movies as Unforgiven, Broke Back Mountain and Mystery Alaska, a project where he studied the craft as a background actor during a major winter storm disaster, were filmed, and is a producer of more than eighteen television, feature, short, documentary and new media projects; and worked as a contract producer on number of projects, including a Boreal Forest Documentary. 

Recent projects he is a producer on include the award winning Furthest from the Wild (3 Episodes) (2019); Trick (2021); Ole King Cole (2021 Post); Soldier in the Barn (2021 Post); Her Mind in Pieces (2019); Last Stand to Nowhere (2019) and Evie’s Christmas Gift (2018). 

TALENT: Exploring all aspects of storytelling, Harold studied action with LA Director Tom Logan and he has appeared in more than fifteen commercials, industrial films; Made for TV Movies and series, and feature films.

He is the sponsor of the Harold L. Brown Award of Excellence 1st Time Screenwriter presented annually at The Northern Virginia International Film & Music Festival, Washington D.C. Metro Area, to a first time writer who displays excellence and promise in their storytelling craft.  He is also a founding co-sponsor of the Young Storyteller Award presented annually at the Action on Film MEGAFest  International Film Festival to young storytellers under sixteen, with twenty-five youth making up the 2018 Class of Young Storytellers.  He has been a guest lecturer speaking on topics such as converting screenplays into novels, something he has done with the Deadly Invisible Enemies Series, and on advanced screenwriting, with such artists as Antonio Fargas, Del Weston and Matt DeGennaro.

RIVER CITY SERIES (Half-hour series) –Comedy - A satirical look at how far special interest groups push the envelope for their own agenda. In the pilot episode, newly elected city Councilor, Judy Braun, and her husband, Jack, Chief of Staff to the Alberta Premier, experience the politics and family challenges of living with chickens on a city golf course. Meanwhile, Brahma Rooster and Brahma Hen muse about allergies caused by the city’s use of environmentally friendly pesticides on the golf course.

PRODUCER:

Harold has received the award for ‘Most Promising Producer’ in Alberta, where such feature movies as Unforgiven, Broke Back Mountain and Mystery Alaska, a project where he studied the craft as a background actor during a major winter storm disaster, were filmed, and is a producer of more than eighteen television, feature, short, documentary and new media projects; and worked as a contract producer on number of projects, including a Boreal Forest Documentary. 

Recent projects he is a producer on include the award winning Furthest from the Wild (3 Episodes) (2019); Trick (2021); Ole King Cole (2021 Post); Soldier in the Barn (2021 Post); Her Mind in Pieces (2019); Last Stand to Nowhere (2019) and Evie’s Christmas Gift (2018). 

TALENT: Exploring all aspects of storytelling, Harold studied action with LA Director Tom Logan and he has appeared in more than fifteen commercials, industrial films; Made for TV Movies and series, and feature films.
