Jason Miller (born October 22, 1983) is an American film director and screenwriter, best known for co-writing and producing the upcoming film Echo Boomers. He is also currently in development on his feature directorial debut, Chop.
Miller grew up in southwest Arkansas. At an early age, he developed an intense interest in filmmaking and storytelling. He studied film at the University of Central Arkansas, where he wrote and directed numerous award-winning short films, and gained notoriety in the Arkansas film scene. His thesis film The Whisperers won the Charles B. Pierce Award for the Best Film Made in Arkansas at the final Little Rock Film Festival in 2015.
While at UCA, Miller met Seth Savoy. The two collaborated on several music videos and short films, including Blood Brothers, which was picked up by Hulu. Miller and Savoy also co-wrote the crime drama Echo Boomers on spec. Echo Boomers went into pre-production in July of 2019, with Savoy directing, and Miller was brought on as a creative producer to work closely with Savoy on the vision for the film. Echo Boomers is slated for release in 2020, and stars Patrick Schwarzenegger, Michael Shannon, and Alex Pettyfer.
While writing Echo Boomers, Miller stayed busy on solo writing projects, including Chop, a low-fi sci-fi coming-of-age story which became a personal passion project for Miller, and the film he decided to make his feature directorial debut. The script for Chop has received a polarizing response for it genre-defying qualities and unusual premise, and eventually gained the attention of producer and cinematographer Brandon Riley, who found financing for the film. The film is currently in development, with Miller slated to direct.
