JELENA WOEHR gained worldwide attention when she wrote a 2020 episode of THE WEST WING on Twitter that went viral. But before breaking the Internet, she helped to build it. Being the product of a family of scientists, she learned how to program at 4, and by age 11 was a finalist in the national Millennium Math Challenge at U.S. Space Camp in Titusville, Florida. She later worked in social media startups for 10 years, leading teams on three continents and leaving her mark on the world of social media by naming the infamous TikTok “For You” page. Today, Jelena is a Los Angeles based writer, podcaster, LSAT instructor, and national-level competitor in 100-mile horse races. She has written 35 short scripts for Disney Digital, set within the Ralph Breaks the Internet and Frozen 2 universes, as well as an entire season of an animated nonfiction Disney+ YouTube series and a Disney+ YouTube talk show pilot filming this fall. She serves as Head Writer for an upcoming celebrity-hosted Spotify Original podcast series on the criminal justice system, and is also Head Writer for an upcoming Lava Media podcast series on wrongful convictions. Jelena won a 2021 Stowe Story Labs fellowship; placed first among one-hour pilots in the Junior Hollywood Radio & Television Society’s screenwriting contest; was a finalist for the Warner Bros. Television Writing Workshop, Fox Entertainment Writing Incubator, and Disney's Launchpad Shorts Accelerator; and was a semifinalist for the Walt Disney Television Writing Program, Page Awards, Final Draft Big Break, and Macro Episodic Lab. Her work for Disney Digital won two Webby Awards, including Best Writing.
