Jessie Gant fell in love with figure skating at 13 when she witnessed Tara Lipinski win gold at the Nagano Olympics. It was a big day for Lipinski, but also for Jessie. She was inspired, but starting a new sport in adolescence with a single mother on a teacher’s salary meant the odds were against her. Jessie persevered and after years of dedication she graced the podium at the US National Synchronized Skating Championships. Now she carries this same focus in pursuing her goals as a Television Writer.
Jessie broke into the entertainment industry as an assistant film accountant in NYC. Despite a dislike for math, she moved up the accounting ranks working on projects like Black Swan, Moonrise Kingdom, Friends With Kids, and Louie. During a quarter life crisis in Spain, Jessie wandered the Alhambra, where she realized she needed to pursue her creative endeavors if she wanted a fulfilling life and career. So she tapped into her training mindset and began writing, focusing on female driven comedy. Jessie went on to complete a Master’s degree in Producing and Writing for Television at Boston University. During this time, she was awarded the Looking China Scholarship which sponsored her travels to Fujian, China to create a short documentary highlighting the region.
In 2016 Jessie relocated to LA where she's held several positions as writers' room support staff for shows such as: Disney Channel's Bizaardvark, DreamWorks' Spirit: Riding Free, where she also wrote a freelance episode, and Disney+'s Lizzie McGuire. Currently she is the Script Coordinator on Amazon's Legend of Vox Machina.
Jessie counts her lucky stars to have worked on four consecutive comedies featuring female leads and hopes the streak continues. Her pilot Monogamous? was a Finalist in the Creative World Awards, a Second Rounder at the Austin Film Festival, and a Quarter Finalist in the ScreenCraft Pilot Launch, Scriptapalooza Pilot competition, and the Big Break Diversity competition. Her writing has also been featured multiple times in the Break Through Reading Series. In addition, she was selected for the Chicks with Scripts Job Connect program and the JHRTS Mentorship program. On an average day, Jessie can be found in a hipster coffee shop creating messy female characters living through the idiosyncrasies of being human.
