A great film starts with a GREAT screenplay. Story Structure. Real Dialogue. Complex Characters. A solid script is the foundation of any award-winning film.
Judy Bednarek is a screenwriter who is a pitch winner and a Top-10 finalist in screenplay contests (2013-2024). She writes well-executed original scripts with culturally diverse characters for an international audience. Stories with a supernatural twist that entertain but provide life lessons or a message to inspire faith. Ordinary people who overcome extraordinary situations and face their inner demons.
Her screenwriting career started in 2013 when she was commissioned to write a low-budget Bigfoot thriller for Chris Turner at Nano Films (Ballistic Films) in Toronto. She moved to LA in 2016 and worked with Matthew Helderman at Buffalo 8 (Bondit Media Capital) on her project Star Child. She took meetings with film colleagues and have collaborated with award-winning directors, producers, actors, cast and crew. She was a Top-10 finalist at the Oaxaca Film Festival (2019) where A Season of Strawberries was selected for the Global Script Competition from more than 10,000 scripts.
Her short film "For All Eternity" is a visual representation of her written work as Executive Producer with a Minnesota cast and crew in 2023. The script was a Top-10 finalist at the Apeiron Film Festival in Berlin, Germany and at the Le Femme International Film Festival in Paris celebrating women in film. This powerful faith-based thriller was recently selected for the New York Istanbul Festival. It will be released on YouTube and all social media platforms in November 2024.
