Biography

MEGAN SMITH-HARRIS is a writer, director and producer with a passion for storytelling. Her career encompasses theatre, film, documentary, television, magazines, blogs, and radio.

She wrote, produced, and directed the independent documentary feature, TRIAL BY FIRE: LIVES RE-FORGED, which was selected as a global top doc by the IDFA, as a Top 20 pick at Cannes by Real Screen and qualified for Oscar consideration. The film was distributed nationally and internationally by PBS and continues to stream on Amazon Prime. She also wrote, produced and directed the two-hour WEtv special SURROGATE STORIES.

Megan is a producer on the independent feature, A STAGE OF TWILIGHT, starring Karen Allen and William Sadler. The film was released theatrically in Spring 2023 and currently streams on multiple platforms.

Her character-driven, genre-bending screenplay, THE GHOST OF YOU, has placed in 14 film festivals. Currently, Megan is adapting her Kilroy-listed, award-winning play, KILLING MOM, for the big screen. Her magazine features have garnered 25 Connecticut Press Club awards and four National Federation of Press Women (NFPW) awards.
