Micah Williams Kelly was born in Sacramento, California. He became interested in filmmaking at an early age and began filming and editing martial-arts-inspired shorts featuring competitors from a local karate dojo. These early videos gained him entry to Art Center College of Design, and upon graduation he began pursuing a full-time career in film production.
In 2016 he was awarded three American Advertising Awards for his commercial work and also premiered his short film Dean’s Well at the Sacramento Film Festival as an official selection. In 2020 Williams Kelly was invited to interview for Impact 90/300, a documentary that explores and celebrates the 300 African American artists who have graduated from Art Center College of Design in the 90 years since its inception.
His most recent film, Cross, screened as an official selection at New Filmmaker’s Los Angeles (2022), Hollywood Shorts Fest (2022), Climax Critics Awards (2022), and will be featured in the Beverly Hills Film Festival this upcoming April, 2023. He currently resides in Los Angeles with his husband and works in advertising as a commercial director, producer, and 3D animator.
