Award-Winning Director Miles S. Crossman hails from Brandon, MB. After completing several short films that draw on themes of otherness and new beginnings, he is keen to utilize his passion and degree in Religious Studies in the media landscape. Miles draws on impactful story forms from a variety of cultures to bring thought-provoking and insightful tales to today’s audiences.
After graduating from Brandon University in 2007 with an Honours Degree in Religious Studies and a minor in Theatre, Miles opened up a small painting and decorating company that, over eight years, expanded into property development. Wanting to be an example to his three children that anything is possible, he walked away from his company to pursue his dream of creating Films, completing an MA in Film through Staffordshire University.
Over the past four years, Miles has directed six short films. After winning the 2017 RBC emerging filmmaker pitch competition with co-director Nicola Baldwin for their film ‘If It Ain’t Got,’ he received the 2nd prize for his short film ‘Old World New’ in Filmaka’s Lost in Translation competition. Over these years, Miles has received generous funding from the Winnipeg Film Group and Manitoba Film & Music. His film ‘The Whistleblower’ was well-received via Filmaka’s invite-only competition, and his latest work ‘The Button Lady’ is currently in post-production.
Looking forward to moving on to feature film production, Miles is excited to work on projects that put to work his extensive knowledge in esotericism and love for mystery and adventure.
