Niki Smart loves writing and does so in many formats: memoirs, scripts, short articles and song writing. Her first memoir Hell Camp won her several awards, an invitation to read at the LA Times Festival of Books, and made it onto Top Ten Bestsellers lists at local book stores. Niki adapted Hell Camp into a screenplay and it's currently in development (see IMDB for more info). Her second memoir, Helter Shelter (about her 18 years of working at a youth shelter for emotionally disturbed teenagers) was released in 2020 and Niki has given talks based on her memoirs at multiple book stores/groups and events including for the AAUW and Curious Conversations LA. Niki has also written a TV pilot based on Helter Shelter.  Niki's short film Connected won Best Script at the Phoenix Film Festival and received the Best Woman Empowerment Award at the Paris Interntaional Short Film Festival (Feb 2021). Niki's first love was music and her songs are on Pandora, Spotify, iTunes and more, and have also been used in radio/TV commercials, TV shows and movies.
