Biography

Phillip Nashed is a Sydney based screenwriter and director. He has written and directed many short films that have earned him many accolades. Phillip has been interested in the film making process from when he was a young boy. Phillip grew up in the Hills shire where he attended Hills Grammar for 3 years and moved to The King’s School.

It is during his time at King’s where his talent and interest in acting was tapped into by his mentors John Haigh, Michael Terzo and Adam Moulds. By the time he reached Yr 12 in 2008, Phillip’s talent gained him a nomination for the Board of Studies showcase event ‘On—Stage’, which is the higest achievement given to year 12 students in Australia. This event would select the top 2% of HSC submissions of individual and group performances. Phillip was selected for his individual piece ‘Prisoner of Second Avenue’ by Neil Simon.

Soon after finishing university, Phillip was trying to develop an idea in which to merge his love for storytelling, and architecture into one. This led him on the path of film-making, and eventually the idea for THE PARALLEL. Ultimately, the idea would be to visualise an array of almost impossible architectural phenomena on the big screen, coupled with a compelling narrative to ground the broader concepts.

This short film was the genesis of what Phillip hoped to further pursue his complex development of THE PARALLEL story, as well as his foray into film-making as a whole. This short film has garnered praise from accross the globe in serveral film festivals from Paris, to Toronto.

Phillip is now working on and currently developing his most exciting and moving pieces yet. The story of John Stith Pemberton and the meteoric rise of Coca-Cola.
