I went to film school a long, long time ago.  I've been filming and writing things on my own ever since.  I graduated with a concentrate in Cinematography from The Los Angeles Film School in 2002.  I studied under John C. Hora, ASC, Charlie Rose, Judith Weston and several other great teachers.    I also attended two summers at the Los Angeles branch of the New York Film Academy in 1999 and 2000.  When we still shot on 16mm film and cut on razor blade splicers and clear tape.  I still read American Cinematographer every month.  I watch movies and television on my Apple Tv in 4K.  I feel that cinema is still the best place for movies.   I also play electric and acoustic guitar, singing my owns songs and some selected covers.  My band is called CHECKTHEGATESTEVEN and I have several songs on Soundcloud.  I am in the process of recording more songs. In 2004, 2006 and 2007 I worked as a non-union background actor, through a company called Extras Management in Burbank, California.  I worked on big budget Hollywood Film and Television sets almost everyday of the week, both on location and at the Studios themselves.
