Veronica Lazar was born in Rm.Valcea city of Romania, on the Wallachian border with Transylvania, in 1977. She worked several years in the luxurious theatrical system of Eastern Europe, in major Romanian National Theatres (National Theatre of Craiova & National Theatre of Cluj-Napoca) and with a some of the best international theatre professionals, such as: the regretted Master Director Vlad Mugur, whose Apprentice she was for several years; the highly acclaimed international director Silviu Purcarete; the well-known director Mihai Maniutiu, who inspired her to chose her English dissertation with Beckett's Waiting for Godot (book coming soon at Amazon); the highly acclaimed set & costumes designers Helmuth Sturmer and Lia Mantoc. Veronica moved to the UK, after giving up on her American dream and a Ph.D. in Chicago, due to September 11th events, but also due to the theatrical landscape becoming unstable in Romania, in the downs of the country joining the E.U. She succeeded in understanding the capitalist showbiz system, worlds apart from the cultural system in the old Cold War countries, and making good use of her artistic and entrepreneurial instincts she founded AVAnti Productions in February 2009, premiering in Leicester Square, West End, London in less then a month. Since then, she co-produced, together with 28 Films Ltd., a first feature length film DORA (2011), where she is signing as Producer, Casting Director and Production Manager.
