We are looking for completed, feature-length scripts. It could be romance, thriller, fantasy or psychological horror.
We specifically need stories with stubborn protagonists who cannot be dissuaded from their goal in the story. The type of goal could be reuniting with a lost love, saving someone or the world from imminent danger, solving a crime (like murder), or discovering something useful to the human race like an advanced technology or a lost secret. The goal of the protagonist must be clear (Either from the beginning or latest by the end of act 1).
Examples of films which we liked a lot:
Romance: Love story, The Notebook, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, 500 Days of Summer, Ghost, Annie Hall, Time Traveller's Wife, Me Before You, Fault in Our Stars.
Thriller/ psychological horror: It, Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Nightcrawler, Pulp Fiction, Get Out.
Drama: As good as it gets, Whiplash, The Pursuit of Happyness, Groundhog Day, Lion.
Some of the lower budget films which we liked: Blue Valentine, Open Water.
We like stories that build powerful emotional connections between people and characters. They must have emotional depth and strong character development with a solid coherent ending. Think of stories where there’s significant change in the main protagonist’s life.
To save your and our time, the type of film we are not keen to be involved with:
Prison drama, mob stories, graphic sex and violence, anything which include mega budget like big action scenes, space stories etc.
Budget will not exceed $2 million. WGA and non-WGA writers may submit.
Our credits include the short film "Matty Boy", which was shot in collaboration with LA based Emmy award winning actor Vincent De Paul, among others.
