An ISA Verified Industry Pro with an amazing track record and access to A-list talent is seeking inspirational, uplifting material made for adults. This is the kind of material that can play major festivals and attract name actors who want awards attention. Budgets up to $10mm.
The production company is not afraid of period pieces, so mining history for compelling stories is a plus. True stories are also big with this company. What matters most, though, is a compelling lead character to center the story around. So make sure to have a top-tier character that actors can sink their teeth into, then drop them into a vibrant setting or a period in history rife with dramatic potential.
This is a company whose mission is to support and spotlight independent filmmakers and their visions, so we’re looking for scripts that would be enticing to directors as well. Stories set in vibrant worlds or places we don’t often get to see, with narratives that can support highly visual, cinematic approaches.
It should be noted that "uplifting" and "inspirational" doesn't mean they're afraid to go dark. Heavy material only adds to the drama, which is good. The more attrition the audience goes through, the bigger the pay-off at the end. So darker material is very much okay, as long as it's compelling and leads to a sense of uplift.
Comp titles: The Blind Side, Hotel Mumbai, Boy Erased, Trumbo, and Brian Banks.
When submitting, please include your SCRIPT, a SYNOPSIS and most importantly, a thoroughly developed LOGLINE. We want to know your concept and hook within the logline. We will narrow our selection from the synopsis and logline, so you’ll want to impress and grab us with those elements.
Union and non-union writers accepted. Scripts from anywhere in the world will be considered but must be in English language.
NOTE: An “ISA-verified producer” means it is a respected industry professional/company with means to fund projects that suit their mandate. They wish to remain private and have entrusted the ISA to vet and find content to send to them.
