Our small team is working on an animated science-fantasy "musical." It's a story about a group of young adults learning what it means to live a fulfilling life while the surreal world around them changes faster than anyone can keep up... literally. The show will feel a lot like a Disney Renaissance film but with more nuanced and mature themes targeted towards young adults / early career adults who are in periods of transition in their lives.
We are looking for a screenwriter who's willing to take a leap of faith to hop on board the team and help out with the more technical side of the storytelling process. This will be a freelance position for a term length of 1 year. If things go well there is the possibility of this gig continuing into a longer term position.
There's already a set of well fleshed out characters, a strong collection of plots, and an expansive amount of world building that's gone into this project. You'll be writing the episode scripts and working with the creator of the show to turn big picture story and thematic beats into a structured story with lots of intrigue, heart, thoughtfulness, and quirky action.
We're looking for someone who:
- has a love for animation, particularly a love for the Disney Renaissance films and other similarly nostalgic animation.
- genuinely believes in the value of positivity yet knows the difference between optimism and delusion.
- has a strong handle on writing wholesome comedy, heartfelt drama, and fun, character-driven action.
- is willing to collaborate, take and share feedback, and work within the parameters of the showrunner's vision.
Please submit a Cover Letter (introducing yourself and anything relevant to the brief), Resume and Samples.
If you are interested, we'd love to hear from you!
