Glenn M. Benest earned his bachelor's degree at Harvard University, and his Master of Fine Arts at U.C.L.A. in playwriting. He is an award-winning writer/ producer with seven produced film credits. In 2004 he wrote and produced his own independent film, “Hungry Hearts,” which was distributed worldwide by Shoreline Entertainment, winning numerous awards, including the Special Jury Prize at the Houston International Film Festival for Best Low-Budget Feature, and Best Dark Comedy Feature at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival.
Benest has written two high profile films for acclaimed filmmaker Wes Craven: “Deadly Blessing,” starring Sharon Stone and Ernest Borgnine, and “A Stranger In Our House,” starring Linda Blair and Lee Purcell.
Benest has conducted private screenwriting consultations with writers in every corner of the globe.
These consultations consist of a careful reading of the material and detailed written notes, followed by a 1 1/2 hour to 2 hour consultation by phone or in person.
He has been helping writers in a professional capacity for many years and knows how to communicate with screenwriters in a way that many other professionals don’t - because he’s doing it himself on a daily basis. Six films have been launched from his professional screenwriting workshops, including "Scream," and "Event Horizon." In terms of getting films made, he is the most successful screenwriting instructor in Hollywood.
A writing team in my Tuesday night workshop just had their script optioned by the Sheen/Estevez Company. A screenwriter in my Monday night class is now at Cannes Film Festival where his screenplay was optioned by an American producer and they're now raising funds for its production.
