Born in Florence, Italy, on July 21st, 1973, Daniele Favilli is an Italian actor, screenwriter, director and producer with extensive international work.
He has been practicing Judo and Kenjitsu since he was of very young age. He is a black belt.
He also is graduated in 1999 at the University of Bologna, Italy, in Psychology.
SCREENWRITER/AUTHOR
Daniele Favilli is co-writer of the film “Bingo”, released in Italy in 2010 by Cinecittà Istituto Luce.
In 2019, his script “Monster”, an original take on the story that inspired Mary Shelley to write her Gothic novel "Frankenstein", won public funding for writing excellence from MIBACT (the Italian Ministry of Fine Arts).
The same year, his film project by the title “Last Victim” obtained financial support from the Italian Actors Union IMAIE.
He is also developing "The Omega World", a sci-fi TV series project in talks with producers in Italy and the US (producer Hal Liberman has shown great interest in the project).
ACTOR
Daniele is bilingual: Italian and English. As an actor, he can do several Italian accents and dialects and does an almost flawless American accent such as in the films "Swelter" (2014), "Puncture Wounds" (2015) and "The Rope" (2016).
His acting training was with Italian master director and teacher Orazio Costa in Florence (1992-1993) and at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Rome (2001-2003).
He also studied with Academy Award winner Olympia Dukakis in Rome and with teachers such as Ellen Geer, Gloria Gifford and Ivana Chubbuck in Los Angeles.
Before moving to the US, Daniele was a TV star in Italy for his lead role of Federico Reali, the villain in the TV show "Un Posto Al Sole"(2006-2007).
He also worked in several BBC productions in the UK “Raphael: A mortal God”(2004), "The Divine Michelangelo"(2004) and "The Private Life of a Masterpiece" (2004) as well as with Greek director Angelopoulos in the award winning feature film "A Hero in Rome" (2005) (Best Film Cyprus International Film Festival).
In the film “Oliviero Rising” (2007) Daniele starred alongside Vincent Gallo and Academy Award winner Ernest Borgnine.
In February 2008 he moved to Los Angeles and was immediately chosen to play the co-starring role in the film "Mob Rules", distributed by Lionsgate in 2010, next to Lennie James ("The Walking Dead", "Snacth", "Blade Runner 2049").
"Mob Rules" won the Audience Award for Best Film and the Jury Prize for Best Ensemble Cast at the Method Fest 2010 in Los Angeles, in addition to three more nominations for the best film, director and screenplay.
In 2011, Daniele received amazing reviews for his role of Angelo in the Starz original series "Torchwood: Miracle Day".
In 2012, he was awarded with the “Premio Attore Rivelazione Internazionale” at the Mompeo Film Festival in Italy.
He co-starred in the action film "Puncture Wounds" (2014) with Dolph Lundgren and Vinnie Jones.
In 2013, he co-produced and co-starred in the film "Swelter" alongside Alfred Molina, Grant Bowler, Academy Award nominee Catalina Sandino Moreno and martial-arts superstar Jean-Claude Van Damme.
In 2017, he was among the lead cast of the Italian film "I Peggiori" produced by Italian International Film (one of Italy's biggest film company) and distributed by Warner Bros Italy and in the TV series "I Delitti del Barlume" for Sky TV.
In 2018 he was a major character in the Campari short film “The Legend of Red Hand” alongside Zoe Saldana (Avatar, Avengers Infintiy War) and directed by Stefano Sollima.
THEATER
Daniele has a long resume of theater performances, from “Physical Interrogation Tecniques” (2005) by Swedish artist C.M. Von Hauswolff for the Biennale dell'Arte in Venice, Italy to the contemporary circus show “Uomo Calamita”(2019) by acclaimed circus company Circo El Grito.
PRODUCER
In 2010, in Rome, he co-produced the feature film “Bingo” mentioned above.
In Los Angeles, in 2013, he co-produced the film "Swelter" mentioned above.
In 2015, he founded in Italy the film production COSMOGLOBO ENTERTAINMENT srl. With his company he recently produced the documentary feature film “Vita da Milionari (senza essere milionari)” about the nomadic lives of Contemporary Circus artists in Europe. The film premiered in 2015 at the International Circus Doc Festival in Fossano, Italy.
A second documentary feature film, “Fiori nell'Asfalto” is currently in post-production.
With Cosmoglobo Ent., Daniele Favilli is also in pre-production for the project “Last Victim” mentioned above.
THEATER DIRECTOR
In 2018, he directed the play “Oh Dio Mio!” by Anat Gov that premiered in Florence, Italy on February 2nd. The play toured several cities in Italy.
In 2018, he also co-directed the play “Caleidoscopio: the history of your dream” with contemporary circus star Giacomo Costantini.
He is co-director of documentary feature film “Fiori Nell'Asfalto”.
TEACHING
Since 2009, Daniele Favilli is a prolific acting teacher with a very personal approach to acting which is an intense mix of his personal international training and acting experiences, his knowledge of psychological processes and a deep focus on physical expression as a result of his martial arts background.
He's been teaching in several Italian cities such as Florence, Rome, Gorizia and Milan as well as at the prestigious Scuola Holden in Turin (Italy), founded by acclaimed Italian writer Alessandro Baricco.
