Miguel Orozco was raised in East LA and moved to Utah as a teen. The culture shock led to his passion for writing stories about identity in marginalized communities. The film A BETTER LIFE inspired his feature MIXTECO KID which was selected for NALIP's Writers Lab, was a finalist for the 2022 Humanitas New Voices Fellowship, and a quarter-finalist for the Academy Nicholl Fellowship. His TV pilot, LA CUARENTONA was a semi-final for the 2021 PAGE Awards. Early in his professional life, Miguel started in Washington, DC as a Congressional Hispanic Caucus Intern and continued to work on the Hill as a U.S. Senate staffer before writing and producing the award-winning film, GOD SPEAKS SPANISH (Chicago & NY Latino Film Festivals). Miguel co-founded an educational film company and ÁNIMO Theatre to write and produce plays to celebrate diversity. Miguel and his writing partner, Boris Rodriguez, recently completed the Film Independent’s Episodic Lab as co-writer of the Chicano sci-fi adventure series East Los Aliens about a mixed-status family that adopts an "alien" after its spacecraft crashes in the heart of East LA.
